In this issue: Salmon Benefits Teenager’s Diet Recipe: Planked Salmon NEWS

Greetings and welcome to our new monthly newsletter. I am honored to have joined SOTA this year as Executive Director, and exhilarated to be part of an industry with a daunting and noble goal: to produce, promote and make widely available at reasonable prices, healthy, versatile and appetizing salmon.

As you may know, aquaculture is a booming industry with the potential to alleviate the concern that the world will eventually exhaust its food supply; and, like most rapidly growing industries, we face increasing scrutiny and, from some of those who perceive us as competition, increasing criticism.

We welcome the scrutiny from all who, as we do, seek to make a safe industry even safer. We also welcome and support the growing interest from the scientific and medical communities, who with their unbiased and impartial studies have begun to independently educate consumers on the many health benefits of consuming ocean farmed salmon.

As we go forward, we will unveil an exciting new national ad campaign featuring recipes and appearances from top chefs which we will share with you via our website. Our quest is to inform the public-at-large and increase awareness about the many benefits of ocean farmed salmon. In addition to the delicious taste, almost daily, some new scientific finding surfaces suggesting additional health benefits, so many to date, in fact, that it is no wonder ocean farmed salmon is being referred to as “Delicious, Nutritious and Smart.”

HYDE PARK, N.Y. - Add a touch of rustic elegance to your next outdoor gathering with cedar-planked salmon. This dish, which was a favorite of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, offers a smoky, woody flavor and impressive presentation.

The Culinary Institute of America's updated version replaces the president's preferred white sauce with a simple, blended butter enhanced with intense flavorings and fresh herbs. The result is a rich, flavorful dish, ideal for entertaining.
